Around Town

Here are a couple photos from my last few walks around Worcester.  I love living in this city even thought there are some problems, but your going to get that anywhere.  I walk around with Mary my beagle since we live downtown there is only one park within walking distance and it's not very big. So we walk around the city, up and down the side streets.  I love taking pictures of what I pass when we are out, sometimes they turn out great, and sometimes not.  Here are a few favorites from our last few outings.

I'll start you off with a before picture, Mary loves sitting up in her window looking out at the city.  Look how relaxed she is aww.

Can you spot the falcon in this picture.  I took Mary down to Institute Park to walk around and this guy was up in the tree looking at us.  My husband didn't even see it.

Here is an "action" shot.  That's about as much action as Mary does.  I'm lucky she will wake up long enough to go out.

This is the most disturbing statue I have ever seen.  This is located by the Worcester Common and I have to walk by it all the time.  I really can't stand it and I can't figure out why someone would make this.

This is the top of a statue inside Worcester Common.  I love how she looks down upon us with that sword raised high.  She is empowering and I can't help smiling up at her every time I pass underneath.

This was stuck to the car that had parked next top mine in my apartment buildings parking lot.  It reminds me of that movie Bushwacked with Daniel Stern.  If you haven't seen it, and you like goofy kids movies, please rent it.  You will not be disappointed.

This is a pic of a beaver dam!  This was in the water at Institute Park and I almost didn't even see it.  Too bad I didn't see the beaver.

This stone marks the corner of the original Worcester Cemetery.  The is now the Worcester Common, it creeped me out since it says the gravestones that were located inside this graveyard were laid flat and the park was just created on top.  S that means when I walk my dog we are walking above graves.  This will make Halloween walks a little more scary.

Here are the remaining graves that are left in Worcester Common.  That huge one is awesome.  I can only hope that I am remembered with such a beautiful headstone.

Here is a sign in a local store supporting our minor league hockey team the Worcester Sharks.  They play at the DCU Center and my husband and I have gone a few times.  Its real fun and they make it a good family night.  If we had kids we always say we would bring them over to meet Fins the mascot, a big shark.

Oh man I found him!!  Well not really.  I was walking and looked up to see Waldo St.  I had to snap a pic and giggle a minute.

This is a painting on the side of a building downtown.  It shows 5 George Washington potriats around a star with the American red white and blue colors.  Worcester,MA was voted an All American City a few years back.  I love that about this city, it feels like a small town.

And finally here is a picture of Mary giving me a dirty look since she is mad that I keep stopping to take pictures lol.
