A Penny A Day Hopefully Sends A Car My Way!

As I have mentioned I am sans car at the moment.  I am a person who has had to learn the hard way all about credit, and what happens when you abuse it and make yours bad.  Anyway I am not in a position to get a car loan so I am riding the train to save money.  I have also decided to use any other method to save money that I can.

So, first thing is I am saving all my soda cans and bottles to go toward the car.  Sadly this will add up because I am a Dt Mt Dew fanatic!  So this is one way to save some extra change.  Speaking of change, since I am taking the train I use a lot of change for the fare, its just easier and the monthly passes are not much of a deal so it makes more sense to buy the ticket on the train.  However, I have decided to try and save all the pennies I can get my grubby little hands on and also save those.  I know pennies are everywhere and I used to just toss them in a drawer or in a well for a wish, but not anymore, I'm putting those pennies to work.

To have a place to keep these I looked around the house for something that I could use.  I have tons of Mason jars laying around so I thought to use one of these.  I have seen other Mason jar banks where people cut a coin slot in the top,

but I am not going to do this.  I don't mind having to unscrew the top and that way I can use the jar after possibly for something else.  Looking around the house again I got together my paintbrushes, black paint, and The Office on Netflix, and got to work.

Of course I always forget to take a picture of at least one step.  I used the tape to tape off a couple lines on the jar so they would remain clear.

Paint it black

This is after I removed the tape.  I like the way the lines came out.

This is a pic with some paper towels inside to show off the lines a little better.  The paint seeped under the tape a little but not to bad for my needs.

And here is a upside down pic so I could see how the pennies will look, I don't have enough pennies yet to fill up to the clear parts :(.

The rest of the jar is painted black so it is not clear. Now all I have to do is actually put money in it!
